I still can't find my phone :)  Oddly, I don't miss it yet.

I'm thinking about getting a computer for Katie for Christmas.  Just a little desktop, nothing major, but since my laptop is about to break in half - literally - it wouldn't hurt to have another machine around.  I might even do a backup.  Crazy idea, I know.

I was checking out of the grocery store this morning.  The girls working were clicking along at a good pace, ringing up my purchases, packing them in sacks, and discussing their manager's upcoming retirement party.  The older fellow behind me in line said "do you all mind, just get me OUT of here."  This was really rude, as they weren't being slow at all.  The two girls both blushed, fell silent and finished packing me up.  

Have you ever asked a child to hurry up, and they immediately go into slow-motion?  That's what I did.  I took my time reaching up for the receipt, signed my name VERY SLOWLY, and then started to chit chat with the girls as I uber-slowly wheeled the cart thru the aisle and out.   I winked at the girl bagging my groceries and told her I was slowing down on purpose, just for meanness.  She just smiled and nodded goodbye.   Poor kids.  Doing a good job and some cranky person having a bad day has to jump their case. 

My mind wandered around - maybe I'd step back in and talk to them some more. Maybe I'd confront him for being rude.  Maybe I'd just stop and tell the manager that I thought they were doing a great job today.  Then I wondered if he was always like that or if he'd been having a really bad day.  So where ever you are, cranky one, I hope your day got better. 

I have a cordless phone - and as you probably know, if you don't return the phone to the base to recharge, the batteries die.

Well, I have NO idea where the phone is - and with a dead battery, no point calling it to find out where it is.

I started to look for it yesterday but then realized I've done quite well without it for a week now.

It's also peak time of year for auto-phone calls from this/that politician.  I average maybe 1 message on the answering machine every 3 days - now it's 10 a day, and they're all hang ups or recordings of political schpiels. 

I've decided not to bother looking for the phone until AFTER election day.
