BUSY DAY!
11.29.05 (9:05 pm)   [edit]
The car-obsession is now over. I got my van back from the shop this morning, drove it about 20 miles, decided - screw this, I want a new car TODAY. I went to Toyota, used the $1000 off special (good through 11/30!) and drove out in a little red RAV4. IT IS SO CUTE!!!

I adore it. Absolutely adore it.

And to ..well, you know who you are? Thanks for the advice :) See, SOMEtimes I listen.

EDIT - oh, and the best parts!? No yucky memories associated with this car! WOOT! That's worth every penny I lost on the trade in :) There are things WAY more important than $$.

See the link to the left for my daughter's blog (My blog for Katie)? click it. She made up a new song this morning and I did my best to capture it sans recording...

it's Tuuuuesday
11.15.05 (8:13 am)   [edit]

Boring stuff first - the van is still dead in my driveway.  I finally got to bend the ear of the insurance adjuster and give him my list of issues - when I reported them, who I reported them to, and the inaction that led to further problems with the van.  So it's in the works to get those things addressed.

It took hours, but I got a rental car yesterday - a zippy little Mazda6.  If they had just a little more trunk space I'd consider one.  I do love a car that GOES when ya push the accelerator :)   But money, safety, and feature-wise, I think I'll stick with the Toyota Matrix.

I got a little phone call out of the blue yesterday from Sean, a guy I met via Yahoo about a month ago.  It was just to say "I'm busy but thinking about you."  DAMN that is so hot.   We've met once and it was amazingly splendid.  *beam*  Hopefully schedules will allow another little visit soon.  I don't think I've talked much about him here, but have been gushing and babbling like an idiot on LiveJournal and Blogger - I seem to blog depending on what mood strikes.  But in short, I like him.  A lot.  We connected on a lot of levels right away.

And - I've been kicking ass at work, if I say so myself.

So life is good, eh?

HA.
11.12.05 (3:26 pm)   [edit]
Did I say "last car post"? F*cking B*stages! I drove about 90 miles earlier today, no problem. Then I hear a "pop" and now the van is spewing coolant everywhere and damn near overheated on me as I went the 4 miles back and forth from the store.

So the current list of problems, after the vehicle was fixed after the wreck:
no horn. no remote locks. I guess I know now what hose it was I saw cracked before, eh? No coolant, overheats. Fan constantly runs as a result. Cracked panel inside drivers door. Various and sundry missing bolts and bolt covers.

Good thing my daughter isn't home right now because I keep saying FUCK over and over.

DAMMIT. I'm calling my insurance company - the guy they referred me to that's "warranteed" isn't returning my calls and is 90 miles away. The guy he referred me to locally hasn't called. I'm fucking PISSED and I want this van out of my driveway and my life.

I'm going to rent a Toyota.

A New post!

Van: I got the van back - they did a really nice job on it. My dad used to work in a body shop and he gave it a stern look over, and he was pleased. So that's good! It's been driven about 100 miles since we picked it up and it appears to be running well so far.

Ankle: Cast-free. I have a brace to wear until it feels steady enough to go without. The incision is purple and scary looking. Vitamin E oil is lovely stuff. Hopefully the scar won't be permanently scary like it is right now.

I've lost flexibility. (Steps are MURDER.) Hopefully physical therapy (PT) will help. I'm going to have to pay extra and go outside my insurance since the authorized places are too damn far away. It makes NO sense to drive miles past 2-3 PT places to get to the one The Powers That Be sanction. PPBBLLTT to them.

Halloween: click the link on the left to my LiveJournal blog to see a pic of K and I at trick-or-treat. There's a blog about it over there, too.

Mom left for home today. I drove the van for the first time yesterday and did alright so I think I'm ready to go solo. Applying the brake hurts so I will have to brake with the left foot for awhile.

My house key has been missing since the wreck. Mom found it this morning under the floor mat in the van. It's bent like an "L". It's another reminder the force of impact - broke my ankle and my key. We are So So SO lucky we don't all have snapped vertebrae.

I go back to work on Monday. The routine will be good for us.
